Purpose
Enable two-factor authentication for your IDrive BMR account.
Description
The two-factor authentication process enhances security and also prevents unauthorized access to your IDrive BMR account. Once two-factor authentication is enabled, in addition to your password you will need to enter a verification code received on your registered email address, phone number, or Time-based OTP authenticator app, while signing in to your IDrive BMR account.
Enable two-factor authentication with email or phone number
To enable two-factor authentication for your IDrive BMR account,
- Navigate to www.idrive.com and sign in to your BMR cloud account.
- Go to the top-right corner, click the drop-down menu, and select ‘Two-factor Authentication ’.
- Click 'Enable'.
- Select 'Email Address' or 'Phone Number' as your preferred method of receiving the one-time verification code and click 'Confirm '.
If you have chosen 'Phone Number', enter the same and click 'Send Code'. - Enter the verification code, received on your registered email address or phone number and click ‘Verify & Enable’. You can see a notification that two-factor authentication is successfully enabled.
Steps to sign in after two-factor authentication is enabled with email or phone number
To sign in after two-factor authentication is enabled with the email address or phone number,
- Navigate to www.idrive.com and enter your username and password.
- Click 'Sign in' and you will be prompted to enter a verification code sent to your registered email address or phone number.
- Enter the verification code and click 'Verify'.
Enable two-factor authentication via Time-based OTP
If you choose Time-based OTP authentication as your preferred method for the two-factor authentication process, every time you sign in to your IDrive BMR account, you will need to enter the verification code generated by the Time-based OTP authenticator application installed on your mobile device.
Below are the steps to configure two-factor authentication with the Time-based OTP authenticator app:
- Navigate to www.idrive.com and sign in to your BMR cloud account.
- Go to the top-right corner, click the drop-down menu, and select ‘Two-factor Authentication ’.
- Click 'Enable'.
- Select 'Time-based OTP authentication' as your preferred method of receiving the one-time verification code and click 'Confirm'.
- Install and launch any Time-based OTP authenticator application on your mobile. You may choose to scan the QR code displayed on your computer or click 'enter key manually’ and type it manually.
Note: IDrive BMR supports the following Time-based OTP authenticator apps:
1) Duo Mobile (Android/iPhone)
2) Microsoft Authenticator (Android/iPhone/Windows Phone 7)
3) Okta Verify (Android/iPhone)
4) Any other authentication app that supports time-based one-time protocol or is compatible with Google Authenticator - Click ’Next’.
- Copy and save the recovery code or click ‘Download’ and save the code as a .txt file. Click ‘Continue’.
Note: In case you lose your mobile, this code is required to disable two-factor authentication for your IDrive BMR account with Time-based OTP authentication.
- Enter the one-time code generated by the Time-based OTP Authenticator app in your mobile device and click 'Activate'.
Steps to sign in after Time-based OTP is enabled
Steps to sign in after two-factor authentication is enabled with Time-based OTP Authenticator,
- Go to the sign-in screen, enter your username and password, and click 'Sign in'.
- In the next window, enter the one-time code generated by the Time-based OTP Authenticator app on your mobile device.
- Enter the OTP and click 'Submit Code'.
Disable two-factor authentication
To disable two-factor authentication for your account,
- Navigate to www.idrive.com and sign in with your BMR cloud account credentials.
- Go to the top-right corner, click the drop-down menu, and select ‘Two-factor Authentication ’.
- Click 'Disable'.
