Information covered

Purpose

Transfer data from the BMR device to the IDrive BMR Express device.

Description

Transfer bulk data from the BMR device to the Express device and ship it back to us. On receiving the Express device, the data will be transferred to your cloud account.

This service is available only within the USA and is free once per year. All subsequent requests will be charged.

Transfer data from the BMR device to the Express device

Once you have received the BMR Express device, follow the steps below to transfer data to the device.

To transfer the data,

  1. Sign in to the IDrive BMR device web interface and click the 'Cloud Replication' tab.
  2. Click the 'Switch to Cloud Seeding' button.

  3. Connect the Express device to the BMR device.
  4. Click the 'Mount' button.

  5. To transfer backups of the physical machines, go to the 'Physical Machines' tab. To transfer backups of your VMware server, go to the 'VMware' tab.
  6. In the 'Cloud Seeding Settings' section, select the clients to transfer from the respective drop-down.

  7. Set the backup throttle. By default, this value will be set to 100.
  8. Click 'Transfer Now'.

Eject the Express device

After the data is successfully transferred to the device, eject the device and ship it back to IDrive. To unmount/eject the Express device from the BMR device, click the ‘Eject’ button in the ‘Express Drive Information’ section.

The time required to transfer data to your cloud account depends on the volume of data and our representative will provide an update once we receive the device from you.

Secure data transfers

Data transferred to the Express device is encrypted using the same default or private key that was set on your BMR device. Know more about encryption settings in IDrive BMR.

Cancel cloud seeding

If you wish to cancel the cloud seeding operation after initiating it, you should contact the BMR support team to undo any changes made during the process.

Cloud replication status during an ongoing cloud seeding operation

While the cloud seeding process is in progress, cloud replication is disabled and all the ongoing cloud backups are terminated. After the express transfer is complete, cloud replication will be re-enabled from the device side. All your data transfers, including scheduled transfers to the cloud, will resume from where you left off.
